I remember my well-meant friend who was always thinking ways to sell my stone beings cheap and quick. Once she came up with smart captions, it went like this:
"No feeding, No mess and No walk in a park. Free yourself from all the obligations! Only thing you need is to pet her, hold her or cuddle her when you need love. Adopt a stone pet today and get all the comfort from the little piece of Mother Earth!
Well, obviously when she said "no obligations" she was mistaken. Because some of the stone beings would actually send you the messages of their needs so intensely to the point it is no less difficult to ignore them than begging howls of dogs wanting to go for a walk, or a blaming stare by your cat when you bought her the cheap brand of cat food instead of fresh piece of tuna.
Today, "the messenger from the Ancient Canadian forest," the white spotted owl woke me up seven in a morning wishing to go for a walk in a wood. (Gee, I thought she was
nocturnal.) I managed to ignore her till 3 o'clock since my plan of the day was to work on a portrait of the lady who holds up a cute Maltese. Around 4 o'clock, I was unable to paint any longer since White Fakes' (the stone owl's name) request was echoing in my head like some echoes yelled across the huge open valley, except this echo, unlike the normal echoes would never stop! "Let's go for a walk, go for a walk, a walk, a walk, a walk…..!"
So I put my paint brush down, picked up my little stone friend, and here we went for a walk in a wood.
It was her very first time being out-door. And she seemed to be happy with some ordinary trees much younger and skinnier than those of ancient rain forest where real spotted owls lives.
She may never
see the real rainforest since she will soon leave Canada to be
with a lady in Japan who look forward to receiving her as her
birthday gift.
Perhaps knowing her departure pressing close by, it was White
Frakes' wish to be close to her real home, the Ancient Canadian
Rain Forest where trees are the oldest and the wisest of all
trees, air the purest and the sweetest of all lands, and her
disappearing fellow owls living shyly, hidden among them.

Love,
Yoriko

In this case,
they are best friends. So close in their
spiritual relationship that they can be called soul-mate.
Of course soul-mate referrs to many different
levels of relationships, but all share profound spiritual
connections of one sorts or another.

The very day of separation came like a brisk spring wind, not
dramatic, but quick and uninvited. One of the
stone bunnies was sold. Although I so wished they could be
bought together, Justin decided to just buy the girl
rabbit....
So strange.
The boy rabbit who looked so innocent and a bit sleepy, suddenly
wears the most sorrowful expression, almost impossible for me to
look at. Perhaps nothing can be done to peel off the
emotion of fresh aching of the heart.
Nothing stays the
same, anyways, I whisper to the other in my palm.
Change is inevitable. Isn't
it?
Still despite my headache, I spent good part of my day creating
more rabbits so that the new comers can comfort the one left
behind. They are not finished, but I finished the faces so
that they could at least chat or something.
Has it helped or not? Who really
knows?! At least I feel better since
I created another rabbit for him to befriend with. For the
girl rabbit that was adopted today, I have no idea. Will
the Tiffany take a good care of her? Like giving her enough
pet on the back and holding her once in a while? I just
hope so....

When every one's affection and worries towards the endangered
species in Canadian rain forest reached my consciousness, it
manifested itself through my creativity as this white spotted owl
stone being, so small and precious, waiting to serve as the
spiritual bridge between the forest and us. (white
spotted owl is one of the endangered species in Canadian rain
forest, presently only 4 pairs left...)
