First Walk 初めてのお散歩

0090_WhiteSpottedOwlCherryTreeFrontal

I remember my well-meant friend who was always thinking ways to sell my stone beings cheap and quick. Once she came up with smart captions, it went like this:

"No feeding, No mess and No walk in a park. Free yourself from all the obligations!  Only thing you need is to pet her, hold her or cuddle her when you need love.  Adopt a stone pet today and get all the comfort from the little piece of Mother Earth!

Well, obviously when she said "no obligations" she was mistaken.  Because some of the stone beings would actually send you the messages of their needs so intensely to the point it is no less difficult to ignore them than begging howls of dogs wanting to go for a walk, or a blaming stare by your cat when you bought her the cheap brand of cat food instead of fresh piece of tuna.

Today, "the messenger from the Ancient Canadian forest," the white spotted owl woke me up seven in a morning wishing to go for a walk in a wood.   (Gee, I thought she was

nocturnal.) I managed to ignore her till 3 o'clock since my plan of the day was to work on a portrait of the lady who holds up a cute Maltese.   Around 4 o'clock, I was unable to paint any longer since White Fakes' (the stone owl's name) request was echoing in my head like some echoes yelled across the huge open valley, except this echo, unlike the normal echoes would never stop!   "Let's go for a walk, go for a walk, a walk, a walk, a walk…..!"

So I put my paint brush down, picked up my little stone friend, and here we went for a walk in a wood.

It was her very first time being out-door.  And she seemed to be happy with some ordinary trees much younger and skinnier than those of ancient rain forest where real spotted owls lives.

She may never see the real rainforest since she will soon leave Canada to be with a lady in Japan who look forward to receiving her as her birthday gift.
Perhaps knowing her departure pressing close by, it was White Frakes' wish to be close to her real home, the Ancient Canadian Rain Forest where trees are the oldest and the wisest of all trees, air the purest and the sweetest of all lands, and her disappearing fellow owls living shyly, hidden among them.

Multiple Stone Beings in One

0095_TopviewOfSharon

The phenomenon of multiple stone beings residing in one stone is quite rare but it is much common than one may think. Perhaps it is the stone beings protection mechanism to prevent themselves from being separated.  Being attached together dramatically reduce their chance of one of them suddenly being  carried away unvoluntarily.
Thus, commonly speaking these so-called stuck-together beings are of some family relations like mother/father and a child, friends, siblings or lovers.

In this case, they are best friends.  So close in their spiritual relationship that they can be called soul-mate.   Of course soul-mate referrs to many different levels of relationships, but all share profound spiritual connections of one sorts or another.

石ころアートへの詩 Part 2

Good Bye and Hello

0092_Sadness-small

The very day of separation came like a brisk spring wind, not dramatic, but quick and uninvited.  One of the stone bunnies was sold.  Although I so wished they could be bought together, Justin decided to just buy the girl rabbit....

So strange.  The boy rabbit who looked so innocent and a bit sleepy, suddenly wears the most sorrowful expression, almost impossible for me to look at.  Perhaps nothing can be done to peel off the emotion of fresh aching of the heart.

Nothing stays the same, anyways, I whisper to the other in my palm.  Change is inevitable.  Isn't it?

Still despite my headache, I spent good part of my day creating more rabbits so that the new comers can comfort the one left behind.  They are not finished, but I finished the faces so that they could at least chat or something.

Has it helped or not?   Who really knows?!  At least I feel better since I created another rabbit for him to befriend with.  For the girl rabbit that was adopted today, I have no idea.  Will the Tiffany take a good care of her?  Like giving her enough pet on the back and holding her once in a while?  I just hope so....

My friend Justin got a girlfriend who looks like a rabbit, light, white and soft-spoken, but bright and quick like an arrow when needed.  When he saw my stone arts collection, the first remark he made was "can you make me a bunny?  I want to give it to Tiffany!"  My usual response was "sure, if I meet the rabbit stone, I will make one for you."
"???"  Justin was puzzled.  "A rabbit stone??"
"Yah!  A rabbit stone.  Got any place in mind where I can find one?"
"Well, in my backyard, there are tons of stones.  Should we try there first?"
So in less than five minutes, I was on hands and knees in Justin's backyard looking for a perfect rabbit stone for Tiffany.  And I found not only one, but two.  They are not friends, but lovers.  I hope that Justin will not separate them due to his warret situation, but if they do get separated, at least I hope that Tiffany will take a good care of her stone rabbit, found in Justin's backyard, created just for her with Justin's affection enclosed inside.

Dogs in Vancouver are generally happy.  Their faces are smiling, eyes shining with sparks.  I meet them in parks, on beaches and outside of cafes, waiting anxiously for their human friends and family to return.  I love dogs very much.  They are the animals I interact with the most.  (I don't encounter endangered spotted owls or grizzly bears everyday just because I live in Canada, you know?!)
When I see happy dogs in Canada, I remember the others who are not so fortunate.  Once I saw a stray dog in Tainan hit by humans only because he try to get some food from the garbage can.  He was hit so hard that blood was gushing from his forehead.  Also forever leaving the sadness in my heart is the three legged stray dog near my old house in Tainan, his face permanently distorted with worries and fear.  And what about those big dogs no one wants in SPCA, and abused ones too afraid to stop barking...?
I hope that the stone dogs I create will make each of us smile and cherish each life of dog around us.  When this stone dog find his rightful human friend, I will donate half of the money to BC's SPCA for those dogs, cats and bunnies in need.  http://www.spca.bc.ca/default.asp  He is up for adoption with 50,000 yen or up.
I hope that little voice I hear through the stones reach far and beyond to make our world a warmer place!
Love,
Yoriko

When every one's affection and worries towards the endangered species in Canadian rain forest reached my consciousness, it manifested itself through my creativity as this white spotted owl stone being, so small and precious, waiting to serve as the spiritual bridge between the forest and us. (white spotted owl is one of the endangered species in Canadian rain forest, presently only 4 pairs left...)
Please visit
http://www.wildernesscommittee.org/ and go to make action section and write to Canadian government, make donation or even better become a member of the western wilderness committee.  Since I am one of the canvassers of the organization, you can send me the check or cash of any currency worth 52 Canadian dollars to below address, and I will personally make sure to send you the beautiful nature calender and wild animal calender and the news letters asap.  Please do not let us destroy Canada's beautiful rain forest, the oldest rain forest in the whole world.  It is from trees and nature that we receive the love and peace.  Forest need your help.  And it needs you now!

I am looking forward to hearing from you.  Let us do something special for our world today!
