Dogs in Vancouver are generally happy.
Their faces are smiling, eyes shining with sparks. I meet
them in parks, on beaches and outside of cafes, waiting
anxiously for their human friends and family to return. I
love dogs very much. They are the animals I interact with
the most. (I don't encounter endangered spotted owls or
grizzly bears everyday just because I live in Canada, you
know?!)
When I see happy dogs in Canada, I remember
the others who are not so fortunate. Once I saw a stray
dog in Tainan hit by humans only because he try to get some
food from the garbage can. He was hit so hard that blood
was gushing from his forehead. Also forever leaving the
sadness in my heart is the three legged stray dog near my old
house in Tainan, his face permanently distorted with worries
and fear. And what about those big dogs no one wants
in SPCA, and abused ones too afraid to stop
barking...?
I hope that the stone dogs I create
will make each of us smile and cherish each life of
dog around us. When this stone dog find his
rightful human friend, I will donate half of the money
to BC's SPCA for those dogs, cats and bunnies in
need. http://www.spca.bc.ca/default.asp He is up for adoption with 50,000 yen or
up.
I hope that little voice I hear through
the stones reach far and beyond to make our world a warmer
place!
Love,
Yoriko
